What Assistance is available for patients on medicare?
As of 2025, patients should pay no more than $2,000 if they’re on a Medicare Part D Plan, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act. However, if costs continue to be a burden, Medicare patients have options to reduce the cost.
The Medicare Part D Extra Help program, also called the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS), assists Medicare patients with limited income by covering prescription drug costs. The program reduces premiums, deductibles, and copayments for Humira and other drugs.
If you qualify, you could pay as little as $12.15 for brand-name medications. Apply online at Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-772-1213.

If you don’t qualify for the LIS, you can apply to the AbbVie Patient Access Support Program for Humira. This program is open to Medicare patients as well as uninsured or underinsured patients. Qualified patients will receive Humira for free if eligible.
You can choose to complete the application either by online or printing out the application. For a successful application, you must:
- Provide insurance information and income documents.
- Fill out, sign and date applicable sections. You will need the help of your healthcare provider to complete the application. If printing the application, you or your provider must fax it to the listed address on the form.

Additional Tips
- Sign up for funding from non-profit assistance foundations. Organizations like The Pan Foundation and The HealthWell Foundation offer funds for Humira on a first-come, first served basis. These funds are available for various diagnoses that Humira treats. It’s best to sign up for alerts to get notified when a fund is available.
- Shop around for Medicare plans. If you’re having difficulty affording your medications under your current plan, it might be time to explore other options. Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7 each year. For guidance on selecting a plan, contact your state’s SHIP/SHINE program. These programs offer free, unbiased counseling to help you navigate Medicare options and identify cost-saving opportunities.
